Can I sell my current pair of VSX headphones if I purchase the new version with the loyalty discount?
No you cannot, as the loyalty discount doesn't come with an extra base plug-in license. It only comes with a license that unlocks the Immersion One-specfic features in the VSX software. That would mean the buyer wouldn't have access to the VSX software, or you would be left without access to the VSX software after transferring to the buyer. This also applies to VSX Platinum owners, as only the 'Steven Slate VSX' license will license the base VSX software. The 'Steven Slate VSX Platinum' license is for the expansions only.
What is the benefit of having my closed-back pair of VSX if I also have the open-back version of the headphones?
Both have their benefits! The closed-back (current VSX design) features a very realistic 3D illusion, and has better isolation and mobility. This makes it great for use during tracking, or when mixing on the go. On the other hand, the new VSX IM1 with its open-back plannar design, provides an even more immersive 3-D experience.
