Mobile App?
I think what would improve vsx for me the most is having a mobile app that allows you to play music through the emulated rooms. This way it would be easy to spend lots of time getting accustomed to listening to music in the different room environments when you're on the go. This feature would give vsx another major advantage over mixing in even the best control room environment, since you can't take a control room wherever you go.
I've personally found that figuring out which mixing environments I like best still takes trial and error because I'm not usually at my computer unless I'm working on music. My time is very limited so it would be amazing for me to be able to check out all the different room environments away from my computer.
I think there are several ways to accomplish this. The most ideal would basically be vsx system wide for mobile, so people can listen to music on any app thru the emulation. Next best would be a dedicated vsx music player that plays files.
If an app isn't feasible, there could be a feature for systemwide that lets you batch export a bunch of audio files processed through the emulated environments. This way, someone could load their favorite reference tracks, select a number of environments they want to try out, then let the computer spit out each track processed in multiple environments, changing the track Metadata to match the room it was processed with. This way, you could load the processed tracks onto a phone or iPod or whatever and plug in the headphones.
Obviously the latter is something you can at least do one by one in a daw, but it's probably way too tedious to be worth it.
